How to Deal with Cloud Computing Disadvantages

Here are ways on how you can deal with cloud computing disadvantages:

Dealing with Cloud Computing Disadvantages

1. Data Privacy Concern

There is always a concern about data privacy when it comes to cloud computing. The reason behind this is that the data hosted in a public cloud are visible to everyone. It is even possible for the data to be altered or deleted by someone else. To prevent this from happening, you should encrypt the data before sending it over to the cloud server.

2. Data Storage Capacity

Another disadvantage of using cloud computing is that it can only give limited storage capacity. You should be aware of this so that you will not be disappointed in the future if your needs exceed what they offer. It is good that you ask about the storage capacity before you get started with cloud computing.

3. No Control over System

With cloud computing, unfortunately, you have no control over the system itself. This means that there are times when you will be unable to access your data even if there are technical issues in the system itself.

For you to prevent this from happening, it would be good if you install your entire system on your own so that you can still use it even if there are issues in the provider’s system or network.

4. Cloud Computing Costs Money

Cloud services come with a monthly fee, which is why most people who use them end up paying more than what they need or wanted in the first place.

This can be a disadvantage for some people, especially those who do not have enough money to start with. However, some providers offer free services but these usually include advertisements and other marketing tools which most people want to avoid.

5. Security Issues

Another disadvantage of using cloud computing is security and privacy issues since most information stored in these systems could easily be accessed by other people and altered without permission since they are online all the time and available to everyone 24/7.

For you to avoid these problems, make sure that any online service provider that you choose has a good track record on securing their clients’ information and has security measures and firewalls in place such as SSL certificates and anti-virus software installed on their servers as well as on their desktop applications as well as their mobile apps to protect their users’ information from hackers, spammers, and other cybercriminals out there who want nothing but breach their systems and steal personal information about their clients just for fun or for money-making purposes.

6. Slow Internet Connection

One of the disadvantages of using cloud computing is that it will be slower than a local computer. This is because the connection between the provider’s server and your computer or device is not fast enough to handle all the data that it needs to send and receive from you.

This can be a disadvantage especially when you need to send large files over a cloud computing system. For this, it would be better for you to limit your usage of cloud computing when transferring large files over the Internet since it can take hours for you to finish sending or receiving files even though you have an unlimited internet connection at home or work.
